Otherword is a vintage clothing brand that specializes in simple, faded apparel and accessories. We focus on sourcing second-hand garments and thoughtfully repurposing them into stylish, wearable pieces. Our brand embraces a minimal, natural illustration style that reflects the understated aesthetic of the clothing and accessories we offer.
The illustration style is intentionally simple, featuring organic shapes and minimal black linework. It draws inspiration from animals, plants, and the natural world—where precision and structured form are secondary to fluidity and spontaneity. Perfection isn’t the goal; instead, the natural, free-flowing quality of the lines is what brings each piece to life.
Process
First simply sketch the general shapes with pencil, immense detail is unnecessary.
Secondly use a nib pen and ink and go over the sketch using it as a guide. Taking liberties and adding a little more detail. Don’t worry about messing up too much. It's ok to stray from the sketch and make something new.
Finally erase what pencil marks are left from the sketch and scan in your linework to move it to photoshop where you can touch up parts of the drawing if needed.
